Re: Esashi Oiwake

I am also looking for that piece; anyone will to share? I've been listening to the version on Koga's lesson cd, and am having trouble following it. It could just be those crazy rolls of notes smile   Would notes like that be individually written into the notation or is a practiced sort of standard ornamentation?

Cheers!

In the notation that I have, the rolls are written as a squiggly line with two numbers (in kanji) next to it, indicating which finger holes are involved in the roll. Thus:

     Ri (squiggle) 4 5

means

start on Ri, then roll (Hi, Ri, Chi, Ri, Hi, Ri, Chi, Ri... ) for as long as you like (usually 2 or 3 repeats.)

Though the notation doesn't cover all the ornamentation by any means.

Thanks for the tips; it's going to be interesting going from my relatively slow honkyoku practice to those rolls smile
