Newbie form Colorado

Hello my name is Eli, I'm 18 years old and fairly new to the shakuhachi.  I live in Boulder Colorado.  My intrests include Japan (culture, music, histoy, anime...), Computers and Video Games (like any other teenager =P).  The sakuhachi is so pretty and from the first time I heard it live, I was in love.  Once I get my act together (hopfully soon), I plan on taking lessons with David Wheeler.  This seems like a cool group.  I look forward to meeting you all.

Hi Eli, and welcome.

Please forgive the otaku-ish question but what is your avitar from? Is there, by chance, a shakuhachi playing anime character out there?

Re: Newbie form Colorado

Heh, not that I know of.  I don't know where it's from.  As I was looking for an anime character that had a shakuhachi (or any kind of flute for that matter) to use as my avatar on here, I came across this picture of a girl holding a bamboo pole (maybe a broom, I don't know), so I desided to add some holes.  I'm glad that it passes big_smile.  Oh and thanks for the welcome.

Hey Eli,

Welcome and well-done! It does look like a girl holding a shakuhachi! Really nice avatar

Hope you enjoy it around here

Alex
