1.8 shakuhachi?

Hi.
Excuse me for my terrible english, but i've a questions.
1)The measure 1.8 is a note or lenght of flute (es. 54,5cm)?
2) If i've 54,5cm lenght flute what's the internal diameter (around, without tickness)?
Thanks.
Fernando.

"1.8" means "one shaku" (which=.996 feet), "8 sun" (1 sun=.10 shaku, ie, 10 sun=1shaku).

The internal diameter of a 1.8 flute is usually 20-24mm, at least, at the blowing end, and usually becomes smaller toward the root end.

Also, "1.8" usually refers to a flute that plays the pitch D with all holes closed. This is a convention, and ALL 1.8 length flutes may NOT actually
play in D.

Hope this makes sense...

Don't quite understand this question, but 54.5 cm is a common length for 1.8 shakuhachi, and 4.5 cm could be a 'normal' outside diameter
of the bamboo at the blowing end, if the bamboo had pretty thick walls.

Sorry, don't understand this part of the question.

What is it that you are trying to find out about this flute? Whether it IS a 1.8 shakuhachi?

If it plays with all holes closed at the pitch of D, it IS a 1.8 shakuhachi. The internal
dimension of the bore seems a bit large to me, so it may play flat of D.
