I thought that Zen, meditation and Shakuhachi was supposed to be peaceful.

The reason the Zen forum closed is because they kept fighting too much. I'm not kidding.

Now everything that nature breeds, Doth clad itself in pleasant weeds."

Meditation involves a lot of, well, for lack of a better phrase, cleaning out the crap.

Did you say that shakuhachi is peaceful?  I find it akin to digging out a valley of sound with your lips.  Peaceful is lying in Corpse Pose while someone else is playing music.  Well, we could get into semantics here, but at the very least, shakuhachi, nor most anything worthwhile doing, is not passive.

I agree on the NOT passive comment, but I think meditation is about watching the crap, but not being in the crap.

The crap really never goes away, it just (sometimes, if it's done enough) gets out of the way...

Zen is not easy.
It takes effort to attain nothingness.
And then what do you have?
Bupkes.
