Hi Everyone
Recently I was on a radio show with these two zany and wonderful guys; playing live, spinning recordings, and talking about my own music and the role of shakuhachi in modern society. They are both composers, performers and musical thinkers and have a show called Noizepunk & Das Krooner. If you have a few moments, please give a listen. -James

Hi,
Great stuff They repetitiously murdered your name though! The guys were kind of silly but you did a good job spreading your music and promoting shakuhachi. It's always good when we get some support to spread the shakuhachi to newer audiences. It was an experience, huh

Those two should be drowned like a litter of bad puppies, but you acquitted yourself VERY well under the circumstances.
Always great to hear you play. Dang, that title piece is a tour de force.
Really liked the orchestral piece, too.

Oh my God.... were they on dope?
Anyway, well done, Nyoraku (or Nyoaku). You come across greatly and so does the shakuhachi!

Gee thanks guys for the gracious responses and I'm touched that you took the time to listen. I always enjoy doing radio shows because you never know what to expect. These guys sure did butcher my name (something I HAVE come to expect) but they weren't on drugs. Just two wacky composers looking for new ways to get people to listen to music. -James

In relation to Brooklyn Sanya:
"Who's Sonja?"
"At the end of this **** someone's gettin' mugged."
These lines cracked me up, and my favorite mispronunciation of your name was "James Nyoraku Schleper" (I think that one was on purpose). Anyway, great to hear you play!

I really liked the orchestral piece.
The "presenters" made me want to hollow out my eyes with an ice cream scoop.

My favorite line was "Yay! A Concerto!!!"
Nyoraku's playing is pretty awesome in that interview, he really knows how exploit the instrument's strong points... along with the weak one's like making it sound more like a silver flute, that's pretty darn hard to do. It just goes to prove that you don't have to resort to silver flute to have beautiful intonation. Anybody who got turned off to listening because of the presenters comedy style might want to give it another try.

Thank you all for the very kind comments. (I tried using an ice cream scoop to hollow out my eyeballs once. I don't recommend it.) Just so you know my concerto, all three movements, is on youtube. Cheers!
