Aki - Yamamoto Hozan

Hey all,

I was listening to a CD my brother bought for me in the past, it is from Richard Stagg "Shakuhachi". There is a piece on it called Aki or Autumm I was just wondering is this a traditional piece? Any sources for the notation?

Best wishes and thanks!

Re: Aki - Yamamoto Hozan

Hi Christopher,

A quick search for 山本邦山 and 秋 (Yamamoto Hozan and Aki) throws up a lot of results for 秋の調べ, Aki no shirabe.

I found this:

http://search.japo-net.or.jp/item.php?id=VZCG-8437

Aki No Shirabe is on disc 2 track 3, it's played by Yamamoto Hozan but the piece was composed by Miyagi Michio..

I wonder if that's the same piece?

I also had a quick look for notation for you, 秋の調べ 尺八 楽譜 (Aki no shirabe, shakuhachi gakufu) but all the shopping sites are blocked at work. If that's the piece you're after it shouldn't be too hard to get hold of.

Viel Glück!

Re: Aki - Yamamoto Hozan

Hey Jam,

thanks alot for your help. I dont think that this is the same piece...I have found that this is one movement from a sereies "The Four Seasons of Bamboo" and is composed by Hozan Yamamoto. Aki no shirabe seem to be a Honkyoku right?

Re: Aki - Yamamoto Hozan

Aki no Shirabe is a gorgeous shinkyoku piece for flute, koto, and voice. It is very nicely played and sung by Yanigasawa Rei and Clive Bell on their CD "Kurokami".

Re: Aki - Yamamoto Hozan

Ah thanks so this is really not what I am looking for. "Aki" is a solo piece for Shakuhachi...

Re: Aki - Yamamoto Hozan

Hi,
Most of Yamamoto Houzan's pieces are usually considered modern pieces. He has quite a few! Usually department stores that sell Japanese instruments such as Hankyu or Kintetsu usually sell many of his pieces because they sell well with many Tozan players.
If you can read Japanese you can order it here from the Tozan ryu website:

http://tozanryu.com/gakufu/cargopro_4/index_ta.html

It's number 527 (360yen). The other seasons are right below it too if you are interested.

Re: Aki - Yamamoto Hozan

Found this on amazon. It has a clip of the song if you scroll down. Is this what you are talking about?

I don't know anything but I figured it may help the discussion. By the way what do the liner notes have to say?

Re: Aki - Yamamoto Hozan

Yeah it is track 8 on the CD.

Hey Josh thanks for your help...Ähm I dont can read Japanese is there a western shop that sell this notation? 360 yen? thats about 2,60 € it is bad to order just one piece cause the shipping costs. Is the notation writen in Tozan or western notation?

Really thanks alot guys!
