The long awaited DVDs of the Sydney World Shakuhachi Festival 2008 are finally in production and now on sale!
There are eight DVDs in the complete set, and I'm extremely pleased with the production quality.
This link takes you to the "WSF08 DVD order page", which has all the information you need to order these DVDs.
These timeless DVDs present the highlights of WSF08. Lindsay Dugan has done a brilliant job filming, editing and producing these DVDs. Though not quite as good as having been there :-) they certainly are a must for anyone who missed the Festival. The DVDs are also an excellent way for the lucky ones who did attend WSF08 to relive some of their innumerable great memories of the Festival.
The DVDs present some of the best shakuhachi performers in the world in concert, playing a variety of shakuhachi music styles and genres.
Click here to download a pdf file of the inserts of all eight DVDs, complete with track listings of pieces and performers.
Sample clips are now on YouTube:
Ajikan, played by Ting Zhang, one of the finalists in the S1 Grand Prix solo contest:

Kibitake no Mori. Original music by Miyata Kohachiro (shakuhachi) accompanied by Haruko Watanabe on koto:

Additional clips will be uploaded periodically, so check this post periodically. These are decent res video (656x368) and very good quality (AAC) audio files. The DVDs are 720p.

Hey!
What happened to the lively discussion that was here yesterday? There were some very good points being made from all sides of the discussion. I was looking forward to joining it.
