Re: My new best friend!

So you find that A=442 works best for shakuhachi?  What differences have you noticed using it?

Re: My new best friend!

i got A 442 because its standard when playing with other instruments. Playing with it helps improving the intonation & being more aware where you are. I work with other instruments a lot so, a good and reliable intonation is a must.
The first thing i noticed was how out of tune i was in certain notes ;-) Now days I play my scales or long notes with it ( 5-15 minutes a day).

Re: My new best friend!

Great info Geni.  Thanks!  Does the CD have a scales exercise part?

Re: My new best friend!

you welcome bro! It has some info in the website. Also, you can do your own ;-) practice the folk songs with it. if the song is in D minor, play it with a G drone , or just use different key drones. etc..

Re: My new best friend!

Hi Geni!

This sounds cool.

Do you remember that some time ago you placed a link to some tunning sounds? There was 12 tones in about 1:15 tracks.

Can we practice the proposed exercice of this tunning CD with them as they talk here http://www.thetuningcd.com/piccolo.html or these tracks have some special waves in them?

Otherwise, its just use the instructions with a wave that do not make vibrato.

To the example on the above link, its just play over a G...

It may work?

A big hug!
