Hi everybody
Greetings from Holland!
I'm happy to be a part of this community: I've been playing a wooden (7-hole)shaku for about 7 years now, and am ready to get more serious with bamboo ;-)
I'm a professional classical trained flautist (silver flute), and been working in pop-music for the last 6 years (including the shakuhachi)
I have a real love for tradition, therefor I've been playing some of the Honkyoku pieces, my favourite is Tamuke a.t.m.
Still looking for a teacher though.......... (any suggestions?)

Welcome to the forum!
Kees Kort, who is on this forum is in Holland and would be the fellow to ask about this.

yes bamboo Is the best !!
Only bamboo can Express the Really voice.
Because it contains a lot of fiber . Each fiber is a small pipe . and participate audible.

Ey Jeroen,
Good to see another Dutchman onboard. I'm a student of Kees and it's going pretty good. I'd go to his site and talk to him about getting lessons:

I have a shaku on the way now ;-)))) (thanx Perry)
A very nice 60-year-old one! (Tozan)
As soon I get familiarised (is that decent english??) with this instrument, I will surely get in touch with Kees Kort
B.t.w: I kinda hate the 6th and 7th hole on my wooden shaku: it is very easy for western music, but it really lacks that ethnic/traditional bit.......
I always have these hole taped these days.
Anybody here uses a 7-hole?

7-hole Very Convenient but 5-hole Havs Very subtle changes.
