On a new album

I just wanted to let you know that I will be on a recording showing a section of the amazing composer, harp player and improviser's life work. Well, this double CD: "1,2,4,3" is just of her improvisations.

You can read more about it here: http://www.innova.mu/artist1.asp?skuID=429

Anne was my composition teacher at Mills College, Oakland California. In our one-to-one lessons, we quickly found out that the time were best utilised playing together. I quickly invited Kanoko Nishi  on koto to play with us in my lessons... and Kanoko came to all the lessons from then on.
Inspired from the Chinese tea house ensemble popular in the Shanghai region called silk and bamboo, the trio is called "Silk, Bamboo and Catgut" (catgut being Anne on harp).

The CD has quite a distinguished crowd of improvisers... and that made me a bit worried if SB&C would do the job there... but I think we fit in quite nicely... Pheeew!
"1,2,4,3" can be downloaded on iTunes and street release date is 28 September 2010.

Hope you enjoy it (although I know improvisation is best enjoyed in real time played by one self)! smile

Re: On a new album

Thanks Abraxas. You are right one of the pieces I have on MySpace is of the trio and is on this CD as well. Yeah, I like that recording. The engineer who recorded it - Norman Teale - he was just an electronic music student at the time, but he is by far my favourite recording engineer for the shakuhachi. Good sound is important!

Tairaku... I thought life was like in math... two negatives makes a positive... no?  neutral

Thanks Geni!
