New Books for Shakuhachi Makers!

Friends, for those of you presently crafting shakuhachi flutes, or for those of you who are interested in starting this art, I have two new books available on my website: www.shakuhachiyuu.com. The first book is called: Kinko Shakuhachi: One Maker's Approach, Shakuhachi Master Craftsman Yoneda Chikamitsu. This book is by far one of the most thorough explorations of the traditional techniques used to make shakuhachi flutes currently available in English. It takes the reader, step-by-step, through the entire shakuhachi making process with detailed descriptions given for every aspect of the craft. Here is the link: http://shakuhachiyuu.com/infoshakuhachimaking.htm

The second book is from Monty Levenson, called Emptiness to Sound: Exploring the Acoustical Physics of the Shakuhachi Flute. This book mainly focuses on the interior bore of the shakuhachi and its influence on acoustical and performance qualities of the instrument. Pitch, timbre, resonance and the harmonic configuration of sound are all discussed in an effort to understand how tone production operates. Here is the link for this book: http://shakuhachiyuu.com/infostalkingthebore.htm

I am sure anyone involved in this craft will find very useful information in these excellent sources.
