Hello everyone,
I was just sitting and listening to some minyo pieces. I was wondering where I could buy a good collection of kinko notated minyo pieces? I have a bunch from Masayuki Koga's book, but would like to get some more. I'm studying honkyoku with my teacher, but would like to learn some more minyo in my spare time. Any leads would be appriciated. Thanks
Chris

Look at the Mejiro site. They have a few good books and at least one of them has a CD that basically correlates. If you can't find what you want send them an email and they will figure it out for you.

Yeah, I was checking out their site. I found one (actually two books) that looks good. I'll be over in Japan next week so the shipping will be a lot cheaper I assume. Do you know of any good shops in Kyoto for shakuhachi related stuff?

Here are the exact urls for the pages for Minyo sheet music on the Mejiro site (which --ack!-- is designed in frames and thus exceeding awkward to navigate).
http://www.mejiro-japan.com/html/e_notation.htm#Minyo
http://www.mejiro-japan.com/html/e_nota … u_Ishidaka
http://www.mejiro-japan.com/html/e_nota … mpu_Mikado
To purchase them just go back to http://www.mejiro-japan.com/ and navigate your way to the ordering information.
The Minyo sheet music looks plentiful as do CDs of Minyo. Connecting the two together would be an interesting project for someone more patient and adventersome than I am. Seems like you get a lot of 'bang for the buck' with Minyo (... 1,100 yen, about $10--US for 30-40 tunes).
