Teachers in Mexico

Hola,

I'm now living in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.  Besides performing, I am giving regular shakuhachi lessons.   I have been blowing shakuhachi since the early 1970's.  I have a  teaching certificate from Masayuki Koga.  It's from him, not from a school.  I've studied different styles with a number of teachers, and I pass on what I've learned.

I teach some Tozan-ryu, and Kinko-ryu, but mostly the Honkyoku, or Dokyoku style made popular by Yokoyama Katsuya.   I emphasize how to develope an embouchure that allows the player to have a very full, rich, varied tone.  I also teach how to improvize and play some jazz & blues on the shakuhachi.

I have extra guest rooms in my hacienda, so, it's possible to come down for a few days to a week, enjoy Mexcio, and have a place to stay while taking private lessons.  Beginning to intermediate levels.
