Shakuhachi Search Engine

Hiya Folks,

I ran across Google's custom search engine tool this evening and figured I'd throw together something for the shakuhachi community.  It's nothing amazing or pretty at the moment but I may spiffy it up a bit as time permits.  Here's the link:

http://shakuhachisearch.googlepages.com/home

The following sites are currently being indexed by the engine.  If you don't see something you'd like to have added let me know and I can stick it in.  I'll be browsing through all the pages I can find and adding what I feel is appropriate but that doesn't necessarily mean it's the right stuff smile  So, let me know if this is useful for you or if you'd like to see something else.  Enjoy!

Re: Shakuhachi Search Engine

If any of you would like to add the search box to your personal websites the following code can be used:

<!-- Google CSE Search Box Begins -->
  <form id="searchbox_009398763088929159596:sxz1ivqpjce" action="http://www.google.com/cse">
    <input type="hidden" name="cx" value="009398763088929159596:sxz1ivqpjce" />
    <input name="q" type="text" size="40" />
    <input type="submit" name="sa" value="Search" />
    <input type="hidden" name="cof" value="FORID:0" />
  </form>
  <script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.google.com/coop/cse/brand?form=searchbox_009398763088929159596%3Asxz1ivqpjce"></script>
<!-- Google CSE Search Box Ends -->

For sites that do not allow javascript, the following code can be used (MySpace and such):

<form id="searchbox_009398763088929159596:sxz1ivqpjce" action="http://www.google.com/cse">
  <input type="hidden" name="cx" value="009398763088929159596:sxz1ivqpjce" />
  <table>
    <tr>
      <td><input name="q" type="text" size="40" /></td>
      <td><input type="submit" name="sa" value="Search" /></td>
    </tr>
    <tr>
      <td colspan="2"><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size:83%">Google Custom Search</span></td>
    </tr>
  </table>
  <input type="hidden" name="cof" value="FORID:0" />
</form>

Re: Shakuhachi Search Engine

this is a great idea. thank you!

I just started a myspace site 2 weeks ago, http://myspace.com/philipgelb for my music. One for my catering business is at http://myspace.com/inthemoodforfood
and a student just informed me that he put this up but i need to edit it, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philipgelb

Re: Shakuhachi Search Engine

Phil,

Thanks for the sites.  I added your myspace and wikipedia shakuhachi pages; but I did not, however, add your catering page.  I would like to maintain the search engine as purely shakuhachi as possible.  If you feel that this page could benefit the engine let me know and I can always stick it in.

P.S. Don't forget to update the Categories page with your name at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:S … hi_players

Thanks again,
Travis

Re: Shakuhachi Search Engine

Hey Travis,

There's a thread at "the other shakuhachi forum" that contains a lot of links -- many you'll have already, I'm sure, but there might be some there to add to the search engine.

Not all the pages are in Japanese (some are, some mixed) but many have useful photos and diagrams.

Re: Shakuhachi Search Engine

Thanks Darren,

I have kinda neglected the site list for a while now but I plan to add a bunch more sites to it soon I hope.  There have been several posted in these forums that I haven't gotten to yet.

I'll take a look at those and see what I don't have!

Thanks!
Travis
