I've been trying to locate and purchase the notation for "Kikyo Genso Kyoku". This is a modern piece that i really connected with when i first heard, and would love to play.
I've been unsuccesfull so far and would appreciate any help or suggestions. Ideally Tozan as most in the group i play with read Tozan. I'm "bi lingual" so Kinko would do also.
Thank You,
Ken

Kikyo Genso Kyoku is a piece by Fukuda Rando. The music is available from Meijiro. It is in Kinko notation
and is contained in a collection of music by this composer.

Michael,
I noticed the Rando collection in my earlier searches. But i was not able to confirm that "Kikyo Genso Kyoku" was in the collection. There are 17 pieces but they only have 7 pieces listed. The piece "Yugure Gensokyoku" is not the piece i'm looking for. I sent them an e-mail and haven't heard back yet. If you or anyone can confirm that "Kikyo Genso Kyoku" is in the collection that would be great.
Thank You

Hi again,
I have the collection at home. I'll check when I get off work tonight and get back to you
(if someone hasn't done so before I get the chance). I believe it is in the collection since
I seem to recall the name (meaning I've probably played it).
BTW the collection used to come in bound softcover book form. It now comes as a folio of
individual pieces, each nicely covered. [I have both versions - the book was getting pretty
beat up, I bought it at the WSF in Boulder CO in 1998]

Hi yet again,
I just listened to the sample that lives out on http://www.komuso.com (I think its performed by
Ishikawa Toshimitsu). The piece's name translates to "Bellflower Fantasy" or "Dream of the
Bellflower" or something like that. It is indeed in the collection I mentioned. There are recorded
versions of it on Yokoyama's recording of Fukudo Rondo's pieces and on a CD by Furuya Teruo
to name two really good ones.
It really is a pretty piece.

I have a notation pack that has thirteen pieces and Kikyo is part of it, so I guess you can assume that the Mejiro book includes it as well.

Actually Meijiro sells the packet not the book (any longer). Regardless, the peice is in the collection.

Michael,
Thank's so much for checking that out. Off to the Mejiro Site!
