Ensemble pieces

Any recommendations for pieces that can be played with classical instruments? Small ensemble would be best, three or four instruments. Preferably longer pieces, five to fifteen minutes. I would also need staff notation.

Re: Ensemble pieces

I just performed the piece Haru no Kyoku with a 15 piece ensemble (two koto, 13 shakuhachi).   One of the interesting aspects of the piece is that it has a hon tei and kai te part for both koto and shakuhachi.  Of course the numbers of each instrument can vary.  In fact, you could do just the hon tei part with one shakuhachi and one koto.  What level of piece are you looking for?

Re: Ensemble pieces

Sorry, should have been clearer in my initial post... ensemble with Western classical instruments. Its not something I have been particularly interested in so far, and I dont know any pieces.

Re: Ensemble pieces

But what kind of music? Japanese or Western?

Are you basically asking what kinds of Western Classical Ensmble music there is out there?

Re: Ensemble pieces

Western or Japanese, either way is fine. Compositions for shakuhachi and Western classical instruments in the context of an ensemble.
