For all shakuhachi players in Europe and beyond:
The 2007 Pan-European Shakuhachi Summer School is taking place from 4th to 7th July 2007, near Colmar (Munster), France. The venue is La Maison du Kleebach, a retreat house a little bit lut in the countryside, which specializes in music events.
The Summer School is an undertaking of the European Shakuhachi Society, and like the Society, it aims to be non-sectarian, supporting the playing of shakuhachi in all its manifestations, with emphasis (of course) on the schools and forms present in Europe.
The emphasis for 2007 is on the school of YOKOYAMA Katsuya, represented by FURUYA Teruo and KAKIZAKAI Kaoru, who will be coming from japan, and assisted by Jim Franklin adn Veronique Piron; Kinko, presented by Gunnar Jinmei Lindar, and Zensabo (jinashi), by Kiku Day. Other schools and teachers will also be present - negotiations continue.
Full details and application forms are on the (gradually developing) website of the European Shakuhachi Society:

So, if you feel like playing shakuhachi in a summery French setting, take a look at the website!
Cheers,
Jim Franklin
