Total noob on my first shakuhachi. Enjoying the honesty of true "beginner's mind"!
Peace to all,

Don't lose that beginner's mind. It is critical to growth. It allow open doors to be seen where the 'master' mind can often close them.

Thanks D.J. Just trying to get a sound (let alone maintain a tone) has been one of the most humbling and enjoyable experiences of my life!
I love it that a piece of grass can kick my ass

It took me nine months to learn to circle breathe the didge. It took me 3.5 months to get the first sound from the Shakuhachi. It will take me the rest of my life to master myself. It is the trip that makes it worth it. A piece of wisdom so few know and so many need. Getting your ass kicked in such a manner kills the ego so you can breathe again!
