Shakuhachi Yuu - Patent Info - I think....

hey people, I'm not sure if i'm allowed to post this here, but this info is publicly available at the US patent office so i think it's ok.

this is the link to the US patent office's info page about the shakuhachi Yuu,  if it's not it's pretty close.  Don't know how useful it is but I thought it was kind of cool.

Re: Shakuhachi Yuu - Patent Info - I think....

Sorry, but that doesn't appear to be the Yuu. There's no mention of its name, and the drawings for all the patents are showing Recorders, not shakuhachi. There's mention at the bottom that these techniques could be used to make a shakuhachi, so it's possible that the Yuu is/was made by this musical company, but this isn't the patent.

Re: Shakuhachi Yuu - Patent Info - I think....

Hey Jacques, that's a good find.  Thanks for the link.  But as Eddie says, it's not related to the Yuu at all.

The innovation being claimed there is the double-walled construction.  Not only is there a bore, but also significant empty space between the inner and outer walls.  They claim this would affect timbre, allowing independent vibration of walls and/or additional resonances in the new hollow space.  Sounds reasonable.

The Yuu is not, to my knowledge, double-walled.  So this patent doesn't apply.

Cool idea though.  Worthy of a patent is another question...
