This person is well known for hichiriki, and he does a lot of music outside the context of gagaku. He has more cds than those listed on this page.

That player is very popular in Japan. I have one of his recordings but I find it a little commercial. He is an excellent player and many of the tracks are nice. However, if you want to experience the real hichiriki go for the gagaku recordings by Tokyo gakuso. The sound of gagaku is timeless and magical. You'll also hear the amazing sho (mouth organ) and ryuteki (transverse flute). Mejiro have a good collection of recordings.
