monster shakuhachi

I was browsing around, looking at one of Perry's teachers websites, and I found this.  wow, what a monster.  now that would hurt if you got hit with it

Very cool looking flute.  I want one like that one day.

I want it too. In fact Perry asked Kinya if he would sell it to me and he said "no". tongue These kinds of flutes are where it's at.

What was the fate of Watazumi's flutes over the years and after he died?

There was a pic of another enviable 3.2+ flute (log) with Watazumi playing it, posted a while ago here.

Surely the force of his muraiki couldn't have blown apart all of his flutes... wink

I have heard two different stories. One is that they are sitting around in a garage somewhere. The other is that one of his students has them and is guarding them with his life. Kiku Day played one of his flutes recently and said it was not very good.

I think it would have to be a holy grail for hochikku enthusiasts to have Watazumi's flutes available for study, inspiration, and... the ultimate huge, thick, coffee table hardback...

How's about we form a posse and go round 'em up!
