Hi all, I received an email that the film TOKKO is doing well in Japan. It's a documentary about what World War II Kamikaze pilots went trough in training and includes interviews with surviving pilots and American Navy personnel. I played shakuhachi on some of the soundtrack. The film is currently in the top 5 on Yahoo Japan. Please help keep it going. It's a great film that sheds light on our present day predicament through the lense of time. Here's the link:

Just scroll near the bottom right hand column and you'll see TOKKO. Click the circle and hit the grey submit button.
We CAN learn from history.

Hi Perry... Chris here, in Florida.
That film sounds very interesting; I look forward to seeing it. Thanks for the link! I think there is much to learn here. Also, did you see Tairaku's post some time back about meeting the men in Sri Lanka who'd rescued a Japanese flyer and his shakuhachi? That's cool stuff right there!

Hi Guys, Here is the website for Wings of Defeat, the English title for TOKKO
http://www.edgewoodpictures.com/wingsofdefeat/
Geni, I think that the documentary will be making the festival circuit soon. The website may have a trailer. The film is entirely in Japanese except the interviews with the Americans, but you would never know it. The subtitles are very well done.
Chris, I recall Tairaku's story of the Kamikaze who landed in Sri Lanka. That reminded me of a story I heard about Yokoyama Rampo making a lot of flutes for the Kamikaze pilots to carry on board as talisman.
Peace, Perry
