Red Pine/Bill Porter will be speaking at the Nashville Public Library Saturday, August 18, 2007 11:00am. The Main Library is located downtown on Church St. between 6th & 7th Avenues. Here's a cool article-

Wow, I was just looking at his 2004 Heart Sutra on Amazon.com this afternoon. I probably can't make it up to Nashville, but how wonderful that he'll be there. Enjoy!

Thanks Harazda!
Last month, Huang Xiang, a Chinese poet in exile read some of his work, followed by Mary Tanner Bailey who passionately read the English translations. It was a very powerful, inclusive performance by the two. Xiang's monumental (10' scrolls) calligraphy is also on exhibit. Anyway, anyone in the Nashville area on 8/18 11:00am c'mon down:)

If you go, please tell Bill hello from me (Phil Nyokai James) -- I played with him in Maine a few months ago. He read poems between shakuhachi pieces. He's a wonderful reader as well as translator.

That's great Nyokai. I'll definately meet and tell him you give a 'shout out'. A librarian friend I used to work with at Main helps to organize these events and I'll be at the following luncheon. Thanks for your post. -kerry
