Any recommendations for a good book of Minyo pieces?

Hi all,
Can anyone recommend a good book of Minyo music (preferably Japanese notation, but could be Western) as I only have a few pieces that were given to me and it's such great music to play.
Any suggestions gratefuly received.
Warm wishes,
Stephanie

Re: Any recommendations for a good book of Minyo pieces?

Hi,

Mejiro ( http://www.mejiro-japan.com/ ) sells a set of 11 books of Minyo pieces
in, more or less, kinko notation (I say more or less since they use the kinko
katakana but use tozan style time markings). They are compiled by Iwao Yoneya
and are titled "Selected Japanese Folk Song by Iwao Yoneya Vol. 1-11". They can
be individually purchased. There is a lot (A LOT) of minyo material in the 11 volume set.
Probably more than you will ever play in a lifetime.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Michael,

That's great - I'll order one and see how I get on.  11 volumes certainly sounds like a lifetimes-worth of Minyo!  What more do I need?!

Warm wishes,
Stephanie
