Urushi and d-limonene

Hello everyone,

I've been thinning urushi with d-limonene (Grumtine by Grumbacher). It's a turpene made from orange peel. It's working really well. I was wondering if anyone else has used it?

Re: Urushi and d-limonene

Hi James,
I get urushi from, mejiro-japan.com
Go to making tools, shakuhachi, urushi lacquers. They're great people to order from. Very courteous and prompt. I only use the shuai, which I thin, and the black finishing lacquer which I use straight out of the tube. You have to have patience, working with urushi. I'm allergic to poison ivy but I haven't had any reaction problems with these, but that's not to say someone else might not have a reaction. I'll be glad to answer any questions I can pertaining to my direct experience with these two lacquers. -kerry
