Great question Jacques. Smallest adjustment would be about the mass of a centimeter piece of newspaper folded over. Less than that and I think my mind starts to play tricks on me. Biggest would be about five or six huge blobs in the bore. I enjoy looking down the bore of these flutes to see the history!

I mean insanely flat. That is only when the bore is very close to finished and after I know it very well. Usually, it doesn't get that thin. I prefer to start big and see if something happens at a particular spot. If so, then I know the spot can be fine tuned if needed. Occasionally it might get down to something that thin.

In an earlier post, Perry uploaded some photos of beads to spot check the bore. I thought that was a good visual to explain the idea of starting big to find some clues. Once you find a spot, you can go as big or small as needed.
