Hey there.....
I haven't seen this question asked before...
What is the smallest bore adjustment that you have done that made a noticeable improvement?
Sesame seed size or smaller?
The biggest?
thanks

Great question Jacques. Smallest adjustment would be about the mass of a centimeter piece of newspaper folded over. Less than that and I think my mind starts to play tricks on me. Biggest would be about five or six huge blobs in the bore. I enjoy looking down the bore of these flutes to see the history!

ok..... just so i understand you correctly....
do you mean that a single sheet of newspaper cut into a 1cm square and then folded once to create a 1cm x 1/2 cm insanely flat rectangle?
or do you mean a piece of newspaper folded into a cube (square) 1cm x 1cm x 1cm...
i apologize for not understanding but there's a big difference between the two and i want to know what you're trying to say. Whenever i try to do any bore work....i never know how much to add/remove.... i think i might be doing too much and things just start to unravel.....
lemmie know....
many thanks for your patience..

I mean insanely flat. That is only when the bore is very close to finished and after I know it very well. Usually, it doesn't get that thin. I prefer to start big and see if something happens at a particular spot. If so, then I know the spot can be fine tuned if needed. Occasionally it might get down to something that thin.
In an earlier post, Perry uploaded some photos of beads to spot check the bore. I thought that was a good visual to explain the idea of starting big to find some clues. Once you find a spot, you can go as big or small as needed.

Thanks Ken for your patient responses.....
I saw Perry's post with the beads and i've already made a set of about 5 different sizes. I just wanted to know how small the tuning stuff could get.
also
I'm trying to tie up some loose ends in my distillation of the forum that i'm writing.
I'm already about 3/4 done. I'll email you and Perry a copy before i release it....It'll be in .pdf format.
Thanks again for your patience...
