Schools,musicians and history for beginners??

I searched the vast posts and threads here with only unconnected information so I thought I'd ask:

Is there a thread/site or place to learn about the various schools of playing, their pieces and the teachers in a beginners type of format?
There are so many avenues and sites but I have not been able to locate one that designates a particular set of pages to the entire(or bulk of) repertoire of pieces and which school they came from, etc.

There is so much information to learn! I'm patient and have plenty of time to learn but would like to start with the various histories of the schools and their influences.

Ideas,thoughts,links?

I appreciate any information.

Many thanks,

Jim

www.komuso.com is GREAT!!!!!

When learning about various styles and schools, remember there are few objective (or trying to) sources of information. A lot of the "history" of shakuhachi has been manufactured as propaganda at some point. But it's still fun to read about it!
